A device used to display moving pictures on a screen. The moving pictures may be sourced from electrical signals transmitted through wires from a television station or another device such as a video player or a game console. Televisions may also receive moving pictures from radio signals sent out from a transmitting tower.
Televisions are most commonly used for watching broadcasts (moving pictures sent from TV stations and towers) as form of entertainment and receiving news. Other common uses include playing console games, watching videos (electronically recorded moving pictures) and monitoring the input of video cameras.
Shapes and sizes of televisions vary, but the majority of them are either flat and wide like a small blackboard, or in the form of a box like a medium-sized cabinet.
